So much for that bakery that was supposed to open in the former Sin Sin space on the corner of East 5th Street and Second Avenue. Looks like BareBurger is bringing its organic, grass-fed menagerie there instead.
The Astoria-based chain, which just opened a location in Park Slope, recently erected this sign in the windows of 248 East 5th Street.
Interestingly, there is no mention of this location on the BareBurger website, which lists two other Manhattan locations, in Chelsea and on the Upper East Side, as “coming soon.” But this should be an ideal space for the growing chain: Although there’s no shortage of burgers in the neighborhood, elk, ostrich, and bison patties are certainly a rare breed, so to speak, as are all of the gastronomically correct prefixes that come attached to them. And NYU students are likely to shove them in their faces regardless of their provenance.
And hey, at least it’s not another pizza place.
