When we last heard from Nick Suarez and Theo Peck, the creators of the Food Experiments, they had left New York to spread the gospel of competitive cook-offs across the land. But they could only stay away so long, and next month they’ll celebrate their New York homecoming with the Food Experiments National Championship.
On September 18, cook-off winners from Austin, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., and New Orleans will convene at the Brooklyn Brewery to compete against hometown amateur chefs selected for the event by Peck and Suarez. Their challenge will be to create “the perfect bite” for the audiences and a judge’s panel comprising Andrew Knowlton, Melissa Clark, and Garrett Oliver. The festivities will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.; tickets are $35 and can be found here.
