For all you LGBT anthropologists out there, what’s the best way to see some lesbians in New York? If your guess was a visit to Henrietta Hudson, nice try. There’s actually an even better way to spot some lady lovers in their natural habitat, in the new exhibition Lesbians Seeing Lesbians: Building Community in Early Feminist Photography. The show highlights three feminist photo pioneers–Tee A. Corinne, JEB, and Cathy Cade–all of whom were active during the Stonewall era. To complement these early artists, the exhibition also features work by photographers known for capturing contemporary lesbian life, including Cass Bird and Catherine Opie.
