Kurosawa’s quickly-made Yojimbo sequel is largely an exercise in style. As much choreographed as directed, the movie not only confirmed the filmmaker’s mastery of form but Toshiro Mifune’s ownership of a tough guy cool subsequently adopted by Clint Eastwood and his epigones.
