New Jersey indie-rock stalwarts Yo La Tengo are known for not sticking to the script. They play raucous Chanukah shows full of off-the-cuff cover songs nearly every year; they recently did a tour where they spun a wheel of fortune to determine the set list; and right now, in a daring move for the trio, Yo La Tengo seem to be touring just for the sake of touring. Sure, it’s the 25th anniversary of their first album, Ride the Tiger, and they could celebrate playing at a venue that was rated “best place to hear a live concert” in Morris County, but most likely it is merely a fun show to tide them over ’til they write a new record. Everything is possible.
