Perhaps surprisingly, the reclusive Bristol trio that more or less controlled trip-hop’s heart back in 1994 put together a wonderfully seductive comeback album in 2008. Third doesn’t really bother to update their formula so much as boldly present it again to a new audience. The harrowing sound of singer Beth Gibbons whimpering over the dismal hum of electronic machinery still holds a timeless appeal, even though the machines might have changed over the years.
