‘Possible Bomb Threat’ on Lower East Side Just an Empty Suitcase

We’ve been seeing some talk on Twitter that there was a possible bomb threat at the corner of Allen and Delancey Streets on the Lower East Side, and that streets were blocked off. Rest assured: It is not a bomb. The NYPD informed us moments ago that “it’s not a bomb threat, it was a suspicious package.” The officer we spoke to confirmed that said package had been identified as an empty suitcase and “all is good.” Keep calm and carry on with your Mondays!

Fun (or not so fun) fact: There were 10,566 reports of suspicious objects across NYC in 2010. Still, if you see something, you should probably say something. Obviously.
