Gang Gang Dance

Physically, Gang Gang Dance call Manhattan home, but artistically and psychically they’re gypsies, nomadic insurgents drawing from so many musical traditions that it can be difficult to assign links or lineages. And though the quintet’s decade-long fascinations with the mythical, mystical, and otherwise outre persist, its presentation has become less organically inky and more overtly electronic. Several cuts on Eye Contact would fit comfortably within a Deadmau5 DJ set, and the taunting, sticky “MindKilla” even earned its own world-destroying Lee “Scratch” Perry remix.
