There’s something enjoyably nostalgic about Plain White T’s’ music despite the fact that no one exactly “grew up listening to them.” Maybe the sing-into-your-hairbrush feel comes from the fact that Tom Higgenson formed the band while he was still in high school, or maybe it’s just the sugary innocence of “Hey There Delilah” informing the rest of the band’s output. Although their newest record replaces some of the Dashboard-meets-Death Cab ballads with more California pop, the childish imagination remains—to the relief of their millions of fans across the globe. With Never Shout Never.
