Silver Apples

Over 40 years ago, a New York–based duo Silver Apples, featuring one man named simply Simeon, created echoey avant-garde electronic music made with giant synthesizers that they peppered with percussive rhythms, static drones, and the occasional non-sequitur flute solo. As implausible as it sounds, the group’s self-titled debut actually charted on Billboard’s Top 200 and thus reached just enough people to make Silver Apples underground legends. With renewed interest, Simeon has been performing in recent years as Silver Apples (his bandmate, Stanley Warren, died in 2005), making the odd festival appearance here or there. With Lemonade, Ital, DJ Todd Pendu, and MNDR.
