Ever thought your plain old chocolate recipe needed a little kick? Today, at the Chile Pepper Fiesta, Brooklyn’s best amateur cooks aim to set your mouth on fire (and win your vote) with their sweet and spicy concoctions at the Chile-Chocolate Takedown (at 11 a.m.). Then, spend the afternoon indulging in an array of chile-pepper specialty items (chile beer, anyone?) and meeting chefs from Brooklyn Salsa Company, Mama O’s Kimchee, and Sour Puss Pickles, among many others. Check out performances by Mariachi Tapatio De Alvaro Paulino and the Cajun roots band Lost Bayou Ramblers (featuring Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes) as well as other acts from chile-loving regions around the world. In between sets, take in fire-eating circus antics from MCs Todd Robbins and Stephen Ringold. We’re feeling hot already.
