Always in search of the perfect egg sandwich, we stopped in at Grandaisy Bakery — the original Soho location — to pick up their version of an American classic.
In this example, the egg is sliced and put on buttered dark bread with a very coarse crumb. Garnishes include dill, pickled purple onions, and capers, giving the sandwich a piquant and memorable flavor. Oh, yeah, and cukes provide an extra source of moisture, playing nicely against the denseness of the bread.
