That’s when the comment-section-stoking singer (42 responses and counting!) will play the Bowery Ballroom as a makeup date for her September gig at The Box that got canceled last-minute. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.; on the bright side, she‘ll have actual music out by the time her show happens, as her “Video Games”/”Blue Jeans” since comes out in physical form (limited-edition picture 7-inch, even!) on Monday and lands on digital outlets Tuesday. Get familiar (or at least sharpen your rationale for whatever side you’ll take in the coming weeks’ arguments about her) with the two tracks after the jump.
Lana Del Rey, “Video Games”
Lana Del Rey, “Blue Jeans”
(Critical bias: Still think “Video Games” is way overdone in every way—am I the only person who thinks that its producer has definitely taken the “more is more” side in the loudness wars?—and have softened a little bit on “Blue Jeans” although honestly I wouldn’t choose to listen to either when records like Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine exist.)
