Yes, it’s a carnivore’s dream come true at the third annual Brooklyn Bacon Takedown, where you can taste more than 20 bacon recipes or enter your own dish into the competition. But if you’re vegetarian, don’t think this means you have to stay home and stare at your granola. Today also happens to be the annual Craig Murphey Hummus Cookoff, where you can show off your hummus-making skills or just indulge your taste buds with savory dips from creative cooks. The judging is based on taste, texture, originality, and choice of dippable food. Tasters pick their three favorite recipes. Then the first-, second-, and third-place winners are decided by a tally of votes and awarded kitchen prizes by Whisk. Stick around after the competition for a raffle and karaoke provided by the Kings of Karaoke. All proceeds from the event will benefit the New York City Coalition Against Hunger and the Craig Murphey Fellowship program.
