Well, let’s see. Baseball is over for the year, looks like we’ve lost the NBA, college hoops haven’t heated up yet, none of the local college football teams are at home this week, and watching the Jets and Giants is too painful. That leaves hockey. The New Jersey Devils are in a rebuilding mode—that’s what they always say when the team finishes under .500 last year. But new coach Pete DeBoer really is shaking things up, including a surprise move with Johan Hedberg as goaltender. The Devils’ hopes hinge on new captain Zach Parise, who missed 65 games last year after knee surgery but seems back in form, scoring twice in the Devils’ first win of the season over the Miami Hurricanes. The Devils will have their hands full, though, with the Sharks, who won their division last year.
