A youth-culture monument, Yang’s masterpiece is a four-hour teenage epic. This nocturnal immersion in high school turf wars and imported Elvis worship suggests an Antonioni-ized West Side Story or a Wim Wenders remake of Rebel Without a Cause, transposed to 1960 Tapei and scored by the Fleetwoods.
