New York librarians join in the noise instead of shush loud mouths as they let their hair down to party with authors, readers, and literary nerds at the Desk Set’s 4th annual Biblioball. This year’s theme, Biblio Noir, features music by the Jay Vons, the Nouvellas, andÑfor even more excitementÑJean Loscalzo and Joshua Dean and Ben Franklin from 2toFly Aerial perform trapeze acts! Want souvenirs, too? Pick up an origami book corsage, a portrait by Jeremy Balderson (backdrop by Gilbert Ford), or join in the Fancy Pants Raffle (bring a book to donate and get a free raffle ticket courtesy of the Uni Project). Don’t forget to check out Alycia Sellie’s third installment of the Biblioball zine, The Borough Is My Library, and the short film, “S Is for Shhhhh . . .” by Joy Tomakso. Brooklyn Based, Screen Slate, and WORD sponsor Biblioball with proceeds going to benefit Literacy for Incarcerated Teens.
