Benoit & Sergio were confident enough in their ability to make catchy dance tracks that they covered Daft Punk’s crossover classic “Around the World,” and the result, alongside their handful of productions on Visionquest, thesongsays, Spectral Sound, and DFA, proved that the D.C. duo was not so much overly brash but rightfully confident. Their records are special, and their DJ sets might be even better. Plus: It’s with very good reason that James Murphy lets Justin Miller manage DFA: His spot-on mixes show off his impeccable taste in disco and house.
