The gnarled swoops of the saxophonist’s tenor can be a smidge off-putting—her communion with dissonance is deep—but the nuanced clamor she and her ensembles concoct has been particularly exciting as of late, begetting a finely crafted web of intricacy. Her Anti-House ensemble is comprised of close colleagues who happen to be a who’s who of the city’s modern jazz scene. From Kris Davis’ piano rumbles to Mary Halvorson’s guitar plinks, they unite in a sublime manner.
