Fun will kill you, according to a recently published report.
British scientists say that smoking and drinking, along with obesity, greatly accelerate cancer risks — and their analysis of more than 100,000 patients seems to back up their findings.
“One-third of all cancer patients in Britain are people who have a poor diet, smoke or consume excessive amounts of alcohol on a regular basis,” the study noted.
Max Parkin, the study’s author, tells reporters: “Looking at all the evidence, it’s clear that around 40 percent of all cancers are caused by things we mostly have the power to change.”
So it goes: Cigarettes, booze, and fatty food — the few things that make life tolerable — also end life prematurely.
