Don’t accuse Matt Mondanile of taking it easy during the holidays: Less than a week after returning home to the States following a European tour with Real Estate (in support of the Ridgewood jangle-popsters’ well-reviewed Days), Mondanile hits 285 Kent for a holiday-party gig by his dreamy-droney side project, Ducktails. Also on the bill: fellow Jersey boys Big Troubles and Amen Dunes, the creepy outsider-folk guise of former Inouk dude Damon McMahon; his recent Through Donkey Jaw, on Brooklyn’s Sacred Bones Records, sounds like it could’ve come from the imaginary grandfather of McMahon’s labelmate Zola Jesus.
