Recently, the Jewish world shook with the news of Beard-gate, Matisyahu’s shocking decision to shear off his trademark facial hair, and his subsequent proclamation, “No more Chassidic reggae superstar.” Like the Hanukkah miracle itself, though, his flame might still burn bright even without the Charlton Heston look. Or is the king without a beard like Samson, with his strength in his hair? If that’s the case, it’ll always grow back. Expect him to kick off the Festival of Light with “Miracle,” a Jewish rejoinder to Katy Perry’s “Firework,” and possibly the only decent Hanukkah song not by Adam Sandler: “Eight nights, gonna shine invincible.” With Break Science.
