If you want to spice up your holiday season, ditch the classics and see a show riddled with sex, drugs, and family secrets (you know—what the holidays are really about). The sixth season of director-choreographer Angela Harriell’s Nutcracker: Rated R, featuring the neo-cabaret company The Love Show, puts a New York twist on the classic ballet. Health department workers battle the rats, the Empire State Building replaces the Christmas tree, and the Snow Queen is a generous drug dealer fulfilling the wishes of young partiers. You’ll never think of that children’s ballet the same way again.
Mondays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 22. Continues through Dec. 30, 2011
