Dorado and Tortaria Bringing Mexican Food to Greenwich Village. Fiesta!

by

Looks like NYU students and other Greenwich Village residents will be getting a pair of Mexican eateries in the new year. Opening at 28 East 12th Street (212-627-0900) will be Dorado, specializing in tacos and quesadillas. And right around the corner at 94 University Place (212-776-1830) will soon be the home of Tortaria, a restaurant devoted to tortas, the delicious, hunkering Mexican sandwiches.

Indeed, according to its Facebook page, Tortaria will be “a reimagined bodega that specializes in tortas, taquitos, and regional comfort foods.” The menu will feature made-to-order guacamole, hand-pressed corn tortillas, and fresh-fruit margaritas. Look for an opening for Tortaria in January. As for Dorado, they’re currently hiring, so it looks like an early-2012 opening as well. Happy New Year, Mexican-food lovers!
