Voice Choices

Despite slaying an umbrella-holding crowd of hundreds this summer at McCarren Park, Sharon Van Etten works best in intimate spaces—coffee shops, back rooms, and the like—where her voice and guitar (and on one song, harmonium) can project comfortably, only straining when she so chooses. This afternoon, in WNYC’s Greene Space, Van Etten will be performing in exactly that type of environment, premiering songs off her upcoming Tramp before the 125 audience members the room seats. And if you’re not able to sneak out of the office or scoop up one of the remaining tickets, don’t worry: The performance will air as part of the radio station’s “Soundcheck” series.
