The Huffington Post Twitter account was hacked this afternoon. The tweets, which including homophobic and racist slurs, have since been deleted, but the New York Observer caught them on a screengrab.
The hacker deemed “cloverfdch” tweeted things like “hello gay boys,” “lol wes is a gay boy” and “cloverfdch is a F#@%ing god! Hacked :)” At least the hacker decided to not fully spell out the expletive.
Cloverfdch also brought the New York Post into the fray. The Observer noted a tweet saying, “Sup bitches??? Hacked by: New York Post,” while Queerty has a screengrab of one exclaiming “New York Post rules!!!”
Queerty said that the tweets were gone by 2:10 p.m. — only about 10 minutes after the hack started. The Huffington Post sent out an apologetic tweet at around 3:50 p.m.
Meanwhile, as the Observer noted, Ashton Kutcher is seeking revenge on his own Twitter hacker.
We’ve reached out to the Huffington Post for comment and will update if we get a response.
