Carlos Giffoni’s solo career (the No Fun Fest/Productions impresario has also done time in Monotract and as part of scuzz-note supergroup Death Unit) doubles as a record of the man’s shifting relationship with synthesizers. Alternately angular, fuzzed-out, scraping, thermonuclear, and—if one wants to deal the electronic-pop noise of No Fun Acid into the mix—dosed. Given that his most recent effort, Severance, dropped in 2010, it’s anybody’s guess what kind of sounds Giffoni wrests from his gear these days.
