A nice bunch of people and product were accorded nominations.
Snubbed: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton, Albert Brooks, Shailene Woodley, and The Adventures of Tintin (for Best Animated; the Academy doesn’t care for stop-motion).
But sneaking in there for Best Picture and Best Director was The Tree of Life, which is a lovely surprise and a vote for quality.
That gives Brad Pitt two Best Picture nominees!
My predictions yesterday were OK, but I actually left a comment saying I felt that Bichir and Oldman were going to take the slots I gave to DiCaprio and Fassbender, and that Rooney Mara would get the Tilda Swinton spot.
I should have listened to my gut!
But wait a minute!
Are there really only two Best Song nominees?
Get rid of the freakin’ category!
And is Bridesmaids really pitted against the Iranian film A Separation for Original Screenplay?
This should be interesting.
