The James Beard Foundation Awards are looming ahead, honoring cooks nationwide, but for a cheffy awards celebration closer to home, check out the Time Out Food & Drink Awards, now open for voting. “Time Out New York‘s Food & Drink Awards is one of my favorite annual projects,” says editor Jordana Rothman. “It’s also a thrill to see which places our readers vote to the top each year. It’s a great metric to see what really captures their interest — and it’s not always the usual suspects you might expect.”
Rothman notes that it’s been an exciting year for dining, and she’s been impressed by the influx of out-of-town eateries that have set up shop in the city. “I’m excited to see imports like Portland’s Pok Pok Wing and Kingston, New York’s Fleisher’s Grass-Fed & Organic Meats really make their mark. We created a special category, ‘Best Out-of-Town Import,’ to honor them.”
As in previous years, voting lasts a month, and it can be accessed here. Rothman will announce the Readers’ Choice winners and Critics’ Picks at the annual Food & Drink Awards celebration on April 2, with the full list in the April 3 issue of the magazine.
