As the host of the WNYU/online radio show “Beats in Space” (and a busy bee for DFA and RVNG), Tim Sweeney has introduced New Yorkers to some of the best in house and techno. More recently, he’s extended his range to Beats in Space Records, recently releasing Secret Circuit’s “Nebulon Sphynx” single. Secret Circuit—a/k/a Eddie Ruscha and occasional hands borrowed from, say, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti—is pioneering a fresh fusion of disco house, psychedelia, and tropical. Ruscha’s synth-dominated “tribal surf music” forsakes the boom of house in favor of rolling rhythms that evoke the cosmic waves he’s become obsessed with. With RVNG’s Matthew W.
