On the set of the 1996 hit Jerry Maguire, Cuba Gooding Jr. was mortified when his father went up to star Tom Cruise, hugged him, and said, “I love you, man. Now seriously, are you gay or not?”
Good for him for putting to words what was on everyone’s mind — and for asking a question journalists are way too wussy ever to approach.
But as Gooding Jr. remembers, “I almost fainted!
“And thought, ‘Please lord, let me disappear.'”
But Tom just laughed, he adds, and said, “No.”
See? No harm done.
I’d love to go with Cuba’s dad to a whole bunch of movie sets.
