Yay! After a few tense days of guessing, we finally have a winner. I was eating at Cholula, the Mexican deli-cum-restaurant that serves up some mighty tasty fare at rock-bottom prices. The pictured dish is the cemita, which piles on avocado, shredded lettuce, string cheese, chipotle peppers, and papalo leaves, which impart a distinct, musky herbal note to the sandwich.
