NIGHT CRAWLERS

by

They recently opened a string of local shows for Dum Dum Girls, and tonight Brooklyn’s fuzz-rootsy Widowspeak hit Glasslands for a headlining gig of their own. Expect plenty of stuff from the band’s self-titled 2011 album, much of which suggests a powered-up Cat Power; they’re likely to do their handsome version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” as well. But fresh tunes might also get an airing, judging by Widowspeak’s Twitter. “Woaaaaah, new songs!” they wrote last week, “Recording tomorrow!” With Mac DeMarco, a young Canadian fellow who sounds like King Krule covering “Walk on the Wild Side,” and Boston-based strummers Quilt.
