The New York City Popfest: White Town, The Pooh Sticks, The Ladybug Transistor, And Others Reclaim The City For Twee

by

This year’s installment of the New York City Popfest—the annual celebration of twee music from all around the world—will take place during the festival-stuffed weekend of May 17 to 20, and those people who consider themselves connoiseurs of jangly, wordy, hooky songs will have much to love about the lineup, which contains both stalwarts of the genre (the UK act Comet Gain; the wry Welsh band the Pooh Sticks) and newer acts operating in the indiepop idiom (the heartbreaking British act Allo Darlin’, the New York girl-powerpop act Habibi).
