What’s Happening This Week: World Water Week, Pizza Lessons


Celebrate World Water Week (March 19-25) by participating in the UNICEF Tap Project. Restaurants this week will ask customers to donate $1 or more for the tap water they drink while dining, and donate all proceeds to the program. Here’s a list of participating restaurants.

Monday: The American Institute of Wine & Food is hosting an interactive benefit at 6 p.m. with demonstrations, food and wine tastings, and a history lesson on the midday meal, with all proceeds going to its food research program Days of Taste. The event takes place at the GE Monogram Design Center, and tickets are $30.

Tuesday: Cyril Renaud will host a lunch at La Quenelle at 12 p.m. featuring foods from his native France. Tickets are $70.

Wednesday: Learn how to make pizza dough, fresh mozzarella, and red sauce at the Brooklyn Brewery at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and beers are $5.

Heritage Radio Hosts is celebrating its 100th episode with a party at Santos Party House featuring snacks and artisan spirits. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $50.

Thursday: Cook a West African meal with Pierre Thiam, formerly of Le Grand Dakar, at the Brooklyn Kitchen at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 and include wine pairings.

Have some cocktails while looking at design installations at Cocktails by Design, part of the 15th Annual Dining by Design event, taking place at Pier 94. The party begins at 7 p.m., and tickets are $150.
