Every year, the San Francisco–based literary organization Radar Productions hosts the Radar Lab retreat in Mexico for LGBT writers and artists. Tonight, they travel east for a benefit reading to raise funds for the lab, and the bill of authors is certainly worth the ticket price: Mary Gaitskill (author of Veronica), Michael Cunningham, (author of The Hours), Stephen Elliott (creator of the Rumpus), Rose Troche (filmmaker of the lesbian love story Go Fish), Tao Lin (author of Shoplifting From American Apparel), short-story writer Leopoldine Core, and writer/porn performer Lorelei Lee. Bonus: You’ll also get a sneak preview of Sini Anderson’s documentary The Punk Singer, about the influence of Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hanna. As Hanna wrote on her website about the film, “Spoiler alert: I cry, and my chin quavers.”
