Year of the Takeout Day 91: Shanghai Lee

by

Shanghai Duck and Chicken Rolls from Shanghai Lee (157 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, 718-349-6716)

What fascinates about these apps is def the uncommon choice of filling — usually, when Year of the Takeout comes across rolls, they contain vegetables and sometimes pork or shrimp. And maybe, über-randomly, you will come across a “pizza” pick.

Shanghai Lee’s selection ($3.50 for an order of two of either chicken or duck) is a thin, crisp spring roll wrapper filled with cabbage, carrots, and shreds of taro. Present also is a mild curry vibe. What are they missing? A proper dip — duck sauce just doesn’t jibe with the overall flavor.
