If it’s true as well as a cliché that it’s an ill wind that blows no good, the closing of the Algonquin’s Oak Room may be a devastating development but may also have at least one mitigating factor. It could bring added attention to this first-rate room in the process of raising its image by booking major entertainers for longer runs. The policy is being kicked off with this great London-based performer reprising “The Man in the Long Coat,” a mind-bending reinterpretation of Bob Dylan songs. The hilarious intros alone are worth twice the admission price.
First Monday-Friday of every month, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 9:30 p.m. Starts: April 2. Continues through April 28, 2012
