For the second time in as many days, police are asking the public’s help in tracking down a serial groper responsible for at least four unwanted gropings — and the suspect doesn’t appear to be the same man responsible for a recent collection of gropings in Queens. In other words, there currently are two — and possibly three — serial gropers at large in New York City right now.
The latest groper is the man pictured to the right. Despite his dapper appearance, police say he’s attacked four women in Manhattan since late February.
This groper’s most recent attack was March 30, when police say he felt up an unsuspecting woman in lower Manhattan and then scampered off. The same man, police suspect, groped three other women on February 25, 26, and 27. He’s described as in his 30s, about 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds — and he’s currently on the loose.
As we mentioned, Manhattan isn’t the only borough plagued by a groper — Queens also has at least one man roaming the streets feeling up women.
The latest attack happened about 5:45 a.m. Sunday as the 30-year-old victim was walking to her Sunnyside Gardens home from the 7
The victim told police the man grabbed her from behind and felt her up. During the groping, the suspect also punched her.
In March, a suspect with a physical description similar to the man who committed Sunday’s groping felt up at least four women in Jackson Heights. In August, there was another series of gropings, also in Jackson Heights. Authorities, however, won’t say whether the latest groping is related to the past cases, but the description of the suspect is similar — he’s between the ages of 17 and 25 and is about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8.
Anyone with information about any of New York’s serial gropers is asked to call the New York City Police Department at 800-577-TIPPS.
