Came the release:
“After seven years of writing, re-writing, fine tuning, and revelatory readings, Alexander DeJong‘s opulent and lush Liberace musical, All That Glitters will be presented in its pre-Broadway workshop from Tuesday, May 8 through Friday, May 11 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center.”
Seven years of writing and rewriting???? What is this — La Cage meets Les Miz?
Continued the release:
“Wladziu Valentino Liberace will be played by three men.
“ Kevin Dolan will play the maestro as a child prodigy in Milwaukee.
“Zachary S. Berger will play him as the neutron explosion that was his ascension to stardom.
“Richard Kline will play him as the emotionally wrecked superstar that reinvented television, kidnapped Las Vegas, and cleaned up financially in Europe. The musical is aiming for an April 2013 Broadway Opening.”
Richard Kline! The guy from Three’s Company!
“ His father broke his heart. His mother smothered his soul. And his boyfriends ruined his life. But all of this emotional carnage was drowned out by the deafening ovations of audiences all over the world.
“That is until the phone rang one day in the most expensive mansion in Las Vegas and the voice on the other end of the line calmly announced to Mr. Liberace’s secretary, ‘This is the Doctor’s office, the blood-test results are in and the Doctor would like to see Mr. Liberace right away’.”
Wanna see this?
Wait, let me add one little fact as if adding a giant jewel to a candelabra on a piano: Bob Mackie is doing the costumes.
