Some people probably really enjoy all things whole wheat all the time. Year of the Takeout doesn’t.
There are instances where whole-wheat stuff works really well, and then there are some instances like this–where a little more processing would have made for a more positive experience. Right now, the noodle shell just winds up feeling grainy and tough.
To Tang’s credit, though, the poultry filling is pleasantly mushroomy. So they’re not all bad, but they seem more like something you should serve doused in butter as a side for stuffed cabbage, rather than for your casual, quick dumpling fix.
