Year of the Takeout Day 119: Fong Da Bakery’s GLAZED Hot Dog

Ever thought to yourself: What would a hot dog taste like if it were served in a glazed bun?

Of course you haven’t thought that because, unlike Year of the Takeout, you probably think about things other than inhaling as many insta-heart attacks as possible.

No matter: For $1, Fong Da has an answer for you, and it’s a damn fine one at that. (Like, Friday damn.)

Anyway, tucked snugly in the sweet, eggy recesses of this dough oval is a big beef frank–the same kind of link you could get from an everyday street vendor.

The bread feels fluffy yet moist, almost challah-like in texture, and comes covered in a glaze that’s slightly more custardy than Krispy Kreme.

The mixture of sugary sauce and salty sausage might sound off-putting, but YotT promises that it pleases the palate in a way similar to bacon-caramel popcorn.
