SUPER CUTS

by

Despite a major-label marketing push and an assist from Madonna/Killers producer Stuart Price, Scissor Sisters didn’t quite establish a mainstream foothold in the United States with their excellent 2010 album, Night Work. Perhaps that’s why the New York disco revivalists (who fill arenas across the pond) recruited Calvin Harris to helm “Only the Horses,” the sparkly lead single from Magic Hour, due out later this month: It shares more than a little with Rihanna’s chart-topping “We Found Love,” another fist-pumping Harris production. Expect to hear stuff from the new album (which also features Pharrell and John Legend) at the Bowery Ballroom tonight.
