Tonight, Year of the Takeout decided to experiment a bit: Because so many Cantonese-American restaurants sell homemade frozen dumpling–and because many varieties are available in area groceries–we wanted to determine the best way to prep them in a pan. (Time varies wildly between brands.)
We did not get an answer to that question.
We got an answer to another question instead: What happens when you stick dumplings in a pan and leave them unattended for a few moments to answer a phone call?
This mess happens. So don’t do this. Just man/woman up and man that stove attentively!
