Famed travel writer and essayist Pico Iyer will deliver the inaugural H. Peter Stern Lecture, a series that celebrates the longtime World Monuments Fund Trustee, at the Graduate Center of CUNY on Monday, titled “In Journeys Begin Responsibilities.”
Raised in England, Iyer graduated with the highest possible honor from Oxford and went on to teach at Harvard before joining Time in 1982. Through his countless books and essays, the 55-year-old explores why we desire to explore the world. “We travel,” he writes, “to become young fools again—to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.” General admission is $20.
