When photographer Ryan McGinley let a pack of exotic creatures run wild with nude models in his studio for his latest show, Animals, it wasn’t exactly a pretty picture. “We used hundreds of boxes of wet wipes because the animals were pooping and peeing everywhere and all over everybody,” he told The New York Times. Indeed, the animals did not take direction well, giving his photos a fun, spontaneous quality. An iguana licking a woman’s head, a guinea fowl resting on a naked back, and a marmoset dangling from a penis are all vividly captured in McGinley’s photographic menagerie. After you check out his zoo, head to Team Gallery’s other space (at 47 Wooster Street) to see his simultaneous show, Grids, featuring portraits of fans at outdoor-music festivals.
