Recently, comedian and musician Dave Hill , a regular contributor to This American Life, brought together Malcolm Gladwell and Dick Cavett to share wings and awkward literary conversation for the book trailer for his first book Tasteful Nudes . . . and Other Misguided Attempts at Personal Growth and Validation. At one point, Hill says he remembers Gladwell telling him that he writes for two hours every day. “I started doing that, and I actually found that I started writing way more,” Hill says. To which Gladwell replies with a laugh, “Well, we’ll see how long it lasts, won’t we?” Tonight at the Bell House, celebrate the fact that Hill actually sat down long enough to write at least one book. Comedians John Hodgman, Janeane Garofalo, and David Rakoff will be there to honor this cringe-inducing memoir, which is worth picking up just for his tale of an uncomfortable dinner aboard a boat with a bunch of nudists. Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices) and TAB the Band supply the tunes.
