Pay no mind to the fact that the 1994 film Cabin Boy, starring Chris Elliott, received a 46 percent on Rotten Tomatoes because that’s neither here nor there. Fans will agree that you can’t go wrong with a comedy about a snobbish finishing-school graduate (he hails from the Fancy Lad Academy) who takes a wrong turn and ends up aboard an ill-fated fishing boat (The Filthy Whore)—along with a collection of stinky, vulgar seamen—and takes on first-mate duties. This cult classic was first intended to be directed by Tim Burton, who cast Elliott after watching an episode of his sitcom Get a Life, but Burton handed over the film to Elliott’s longtime collaborator Adam Resnick after he was offered the film Ed Wood (he can’t resist Johnny Depp). Oh, and Andy Richter stars in this film, too. Come on, Rotten Tomatoes, we demand a recount!
