Prisons are rarely lauded for their kindness, clemency, and fine conditions and Alcatraz certainly wasn’t a model of the form. Dan Gordon’s play, based on his documentary, draws on a law case that helped to reveal the appalling conditions at the prison. Chad Kimball plays an inmate; Guy Burnet the attorney assigned to him.
