Newcomer Chelsea restaurant Pounds & Ounces is now open for lunch service. The comfort food joint will serve lunch from noon to 4 p.m. Some menu items: lobster corn dogs, blue crab “nicoise” salad with haricot verts and grape tomatoes, and the “Pounder Burger.”
Black Tree Sandwich Shop, located inside the Crown Inn bar on Franklin Avenue, is now open. Co-owners Mac and Sandy rely heavily on local produce to fuel their menu. The menu has an eclectic mix of fusion items like the bulgogi sandwich (Pear-ju braised short rib with spicy pear jam and upstate spinach) and classic American staples like the grilled-cheese sandwich (Mona sheep milk cheese and Prairie View cheddar).
Harlem Food Bar will be officially open for dinner hours on Friday, May 25. The eatery, located just south of West 114th Street, will feature an American-bistro menu that has mostly everything around the $10 range. [Harlem + Bespoke]
